Yesterday the US presidential election was again in the tabloids as Hilary Clinton became the first female nominee in her bid to become president.
She spoke at length about Republican nominee Donald Trump, saying “a man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons”.
Between attacks on Mr Trump and policy proposals on areas like immigration reform and college affordability, Mrs Clinton took the time to emphasise the historic nature of her candidacy.
In terms of economic data, the only significant release we had was the the jobless claims figure. The release showed the number of Americans who filed for unemployment benefits last week rose from a three-month low, consistent with the Federal Reserve’s view of a strong job market. Jobless claims increased by 14,000 to 266,000 in the week ended July 23.
